Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year. We are in full swing! The children are getting to know the different learning centers in our big room as well as the practical life room. Our theme for the beginning of the school year is “Getting to know You.” Our classroom is decorated with welcoming, fall colors.
At this time of year, we also like to highlight the harvest that goes on during September and October. However, this year is slim pickin’. The children have helped picked zucchini, carrots and gourds from our garden. The gourds are displayed in our classroom along with posters of sunflowers and apples. And the zucchini and carrots have been used for various cooking projects like zucchini bread and apple carrot cinnamon bread.
These warm fall days are perfect for allowing the children to spend lots of time outside exploring our Outdoor Classroom. We are pleased to announce we have re-certified our space again this year as a Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom. Our Outdoor Classroom is full of various learning centers as well. Children have free
choice to explore the theater, nature art area and tipi building area (to name a few).
Look for a new post every week of so. Also, our upcoming Halloween Party at the end of October and our field trip to the pumpkin patch.
